University of Rhode Island Students Invest with the Ram Fund

Miles Daileader is a resourceful financial professional on the rise. He recently completed a bachelor of science in business administration and finance at the University of Rhode Island. While working toward his degree, Miles Daileader held multiple financial industry internships, worked as a bank teller, and participated in the Quantitative Finance Club and the Ram Fund at the University of Rhode Island.

The Ram Fund gives University of Rhode Island students an opportunity to practice real investing with real money. The club formed in 2001, thanks to a $100,000 donation from the University of Rhode Island Alumni Association.

Top students from the College of Business Administration work together to manage that $100,000 capital, which is now closer to $200,000. The Ram Fund’s portfolio has steadily outperformed the S&P 500 since its inception.

In addition to gaining valuable practical experience, club members receive the opportunity to present their work to financial professionals from major corporations. Students get to meet representatives from Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Fidelity Investments, and other financial institutions.
